Frameless Glass Pool Fencing

The frameless system is the ultimate in glass fencing – giving you style, quality and safety for your pool and entertaining area.

Frameless glass has no posts, but instead has 2 small spigots at the bottom of each glass panel. Urban Glass Fencing core drill holes into your floor surface, and then the spigots are concreted into the ground to ensure the fence is secure and strong.

We use 12mm toughened glass with polished and bevelled edges. The glass is constructed to Australian standards AZ/NZ2208. The spigots used are made from Duplex grade 2205 stainless steel, which is a higher grade than 316 grade stainless steel, and is the latest technology.

Using our highly skilled and experienced installation teams is the easiest and most cost effective solution to getting the job done.

Spigot Mounted

Spigot mounted glass pool fences are the most cost effective type of frameless glass pool fence, and they look fantastic. Frameless glass pool fences have clean lines, and they are very “see through” – making them an extremely popular option.

The duplex grade 2205 stainless steel spigots (feet) down the bottom of the glass panels need to be fixed into a very strong floor surface – as the heavy glass panels can weigh up to 90 kilograms each. Some examples of strong floor surfaces are:

  • 90mm + thick poured aggregate
  • 90mm + thick liquid limestone
  • Limestone blocks
  • Paving with a continuous concrete strip footing underneath the paving

Frameless glass pool fences come with a standard spring loaded glass gate. If they are let go from a distance, these spring loaded glass gates tend to close quite quickly. This will never damage the glass gate or the glass panel that it latches onto, but there is a soft close glass gate option if you would prefer a glass gate that closes slower and more controlled (see soft close gate option section).

Channel Mounted

Channel mounted glass pool fences are a often requested type of frameless glass pool fence, and they are ideal for clients that would like to reduce the amount of stainless steel that is visible on their new glass pool fence. Channel mounted frameless glass pool fences are more expensive than spigot mounted frameless glass pool fences – primarily due to all the glass panels needing to be custom manufactured at a height of around 1,350mm (not the standard height of 1,200mm).

The custom made frameless channel mounted glass panels need to be fixed into a 50mm wide x 100mm deep channel located in a very strong floor surface – as the heavy glass panels can weigh up to 90 kilograms each. Some examples of strong floor surfaces are:

  • 90mm + thick poured aggregate
  • 90mm + thick liquid limestone
  • Limestone blocks
  • A continuous concrete strip footing underneath the paving / timber decking. The glass panels get installed into the channel prior to the paving or timber decking being installed, therefore the paving or timber decking can be installed right up to the edge of the glass panels (which looks great).

As with spigot mounted frameless glass pool fences, channel mounted frameless glass pool fences come with a standard spring loaded glass gate. If they are let go from a distance, these spring loaded glass gates tend to close quite quickly. This will never damage the glass gate or the glass panel that it latches onto, but there is a soft close glass gate option if you would prefer a glass gate that closes slower and more controlled (see soft close gate option section).

Soft Close Gate Options

Frameless glass pool fences come with a standard spring loaded glass gate. If they are let go from a distance, these spring loaded glass gates tend to close quite quickly. This will never damage the glass gate or the glass panel that it latches onto, but there is some soft close glass gate options if you would prefer a glass gate that closes slower and more controlled.

Softer Close Hinges

Softer Close hinges are mounted on one side of your glass gate, they are a great looking set of hinges, and they are very popular.

Bottom Patch Fitting Soft Close Gate

The soft close mechanism with this type of glass gate is mounted on top of your floor surface, and they also come with a top pivot & stainless steel top patch fitting (see stainless steel fittings at the top of the glass gate).

Floor Mounted Hydraulic Gate

This type of soft close mechanism is the most heavy duty type of soft close mechanism. With a floor mounted hydraulic gate, we cut out a section of your floor surface, and then we mount the floor spring down into your ground – and we install a two part epoxy into the floor spring to protect it from rusting. Floor mounted hydraulic gates come with a number of other stainless steel fittings, and they are very popular.
